SB Ironmongery Solutions Ltd is at its heart a traditional Architectural Ironmonger with a modern-day approach and a burning desire to enhance buildings with durable, functioning yet beautiful door furniture. With roots originating from the industry renowned Beaven family our traditional values of work-ethic, customer service and most importantly customer satisfaction have been honed throughout our now 50 years of combined experience in architectural ironmongery (with most of that time spent working together).

Our History

Formed in 2013 we bring our core values of high quality, affordable products with a knowledgeable, personal service. GAI trained and Reg. AI qualified, we both joined the industry as teenage trainees taking similar routes from Warehouse Operatives to Contract Management to Ironmongery Specification. It is this grounding and experience of all aspects of our trade that has given us the confidence to adopt a hands-on approach to running SB Ironmongery.

Our Mission

Working with architects, interior designers, contractors and door manufacturers we can provide accurate and detailed ironmongery schedules often from limited information. We have a vast experience of designing and producing bespoke hardware. We can provide fully certified door sets, complete with ironmongery and with contacts across the industry we can specify and supply all aspects of external and interior hardware. SB Ironmongery Solutions Ltd is a corporate member of the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers.

Meet the Team

Stephen Waistell Dip GAI

Managing Director

Leaving school at 16, I embarked on what would become a long career in the Architectural Ironmongery industry. Initially working at E.N Beaven in Washington I worked in the warehouse and was soon moved to an office role. 2 years later, I was offered an opportunity at Scott Beaven Ltd where I quickly moved up the ranks, in 2002 I completed my Diploma in Architectural Ironmongery and was soon promoted to Contracts Manager and eventually appointed to the board.
Away from ironmongery I enjoy a beer with the Formula One, front up a midlife crisis indie cover band and try to do a bit of running, rock climbing and cycling in-between.

Scott Brown Dip GAI

Director

My ironmongery career began in 1994 when I joined Scott Beaven Ltd at 18, working long hours in a very busy (and cold) warehouse before moving into the office to run contracts and then discovering my love of ironmongery scheduling. I completed my GAI Diploma around 1999. In 2000 Stephen joined us and in 2013 we formed SB Ironmongery together. As best friends of more than 20 years with more nights out behind us than we care to (or can) remember we have a complete confidence in each other that helps drive our business.
In my spare time I love spending time with my family and in particular watching my daughters play football. Our shared love of Sunderland AFC means football is never far away in our house. The Stadium of Light was built in the early stages of my ironmongery career and it gives me great pleasure that I was heavily involved in the scheduling of my spiritual home as well as hand delivering every piece of ironmongery in the building.
